When it comes to the most festive season of the year nothing brings more nostalgia and cheer like the warm scent of a holiday candle. Cinnamon, clove, balsam, orange, and peppermint are some of my favorite scents for filling my home around Thanksgiving and Christmas and I burn a candle almost every day.
That said, I want to make sure that the candles I burn have the least amount of adverse health effects on me and my family. I also like to order my holiday scented candles and have them shipped quickly to allow for optimal burn time during the holiday season which is where Amazon comes in. Amazon features some great small businesses who produce their non-toxic holiday scented candles right here in the USA so you can feel good about where your money is going. Here are the best non-toxic holiday scented candles that I found on Amazon for this holiday season.
1. Arctic Wicks
Arctic Wicks candles are handmade by a small family business right here in the USA. They use a beeswax and coconut wax blend and non-toxic fragrance oils. And they are the only company on the list with a USDA Certified Biobased Product label. This means that 100% of the contents of each candle come from a renewable source, making these candles environmentally friendly as well as non-toxic. At the time of writing this post Arctic Wicks candles have 122 5-star ratings on Amazon and their 9 oz candles are between $20 and $22 including scents like “Christmas Spirit”, “Drunken St. Nick”, and “Frosted Fir.”
2. Fontana Candle Co.
This company is a family owned and operated small business and makes their candles in Lancaster, PA. They use a beeswax and coconut oil blend as the base of their candles as well as essential oils as the clean fragrance source. They also boast the MADE SAFE* label which is a third-party certification that screens ingredients for carcinogens, heavy metals, neurotoxins, hormone disruptors, etc. They also screen for bioaccumulation, environmental persistence, general ecosystem harm, as well as for toxicity to aquatic and terrestrial life. So you can rest assured that Fontana candles are not only non-toxic for people but also eco-friendly for the environment. At the time of writing this post they have 11 out of 13 5-star ratings of Amazon and their 9 oz jars sell for $25.49 including scents like “Cinnamon Orange Clove,” “Fir Needle and Pine” and “Peppermint Twist”.
